What is your BMI?

A mathematical formula is used as the basis if the Body Mass Index, and is based on a persons weight and height.  BMI takes your weight in kg and divides it by your height (meters squared).  The formula is BMI = kg/m2< /STRONG > .

Ensure you take your BMI number with piece of mind that it is a good approximation of your health.

A muscular person's BMI would they show them as overweight, which they should know is not true.  Basically there is no one size fits all to all body types.  Some family groups have thicker and heavier bone structure, which can skew the results more.

General rules are a BMI:

  • 20 or more are considered underweight.
  • 25 to 29.9 implies a person is overweight
  • 30 or more are called obese
